The whole bear thing is also causing issues in Canada since well guns are a great equalizer when dealing with that amount of mass and strength.
As someone from the actual midwest in America (aka east of the rockies west of the Mississippi river) hunting is a way of life. Not uncommon for those who do hunt to share their finished product like venison jerky.. especially after those bastards been getting fat off your corn crop.
