I like how his interest is not in saving the guy, but not making a situation which would cause more conflict between humans and youkai. The man would have no intention of stopping the owl from eating the dude if it was done in an appropriate area.

So now we get to see husbando fight. On one hand, that's cool. On the other, we really don't need 38 more chapters of this. I came for fluff, not fight.
This situation reminds me of something;

Who's really in the wrong here?
Playing devil's advocate, we don't know why the dude wanted his fiancee raped, though I'm sure there isn't any morally good reason for it. On the other hand, instead of seeking help in a legal fashion (police, lawyer, family, etc), she hired an assassin to murder him. Murder is murder, rape is rape. Both are bad. In it's own way, it will be interesting to see the situation play out, but this really isn't the manga for it.

Man that guy had it coming and now we have some intervention happening. Ngl, author prolly wouldn't advocate for "save the asshole" here if he didn't have some conclusion in mind. I mean, man gets killed everything goes back to normal would be one hell of a branch off end.

Gotta tie it into the main story somehow, wifey already got involved
