It's most likely a wish fulfillment thing, like "The only reason they don't recognise my talent is because I am so advanced"i like how he actually took time to create the pot, the issue is the lack of communication. japanese mangas always with this misunderstanding and lack of communication, what the hell is wrong with their culture bro.
To be fair, back in MC's time the so called "relief" potions didn't exist, only the healing ones, since as we saw in this chapter the relief potion is nothing more than a badly done healing potion without any of its curative elements, with only the pain relief being left; the alchemy guild lost so much knowledge that even something like that became the norm. The MC simply didn't think they had fallen so far, so he did his task to the best of his abilities, hence the outcome. How did this misunderstanding happen? Both this MC and other guy are really big idiots and/or don't listen when another person talks to them.
The guy told MC to make a "relief potion" MC continues on to make a "healing potion". MC thinks anyone can maintain their magic for 5 hours, other guy can't but stays silent instead of explaining. MC doesn't get why this guy is surprised from the healing potion, guy precedes to not show MC the difference in what he wanted MC to make and what MC actually makes.
When someone asked you for something you're not aware of the common practice is to inquire about it. Making an assumption and going along with that assumption is 100% the fault of MC. Not explaining or asking despite after MC started doing things out of the norm is 100% the fault of the other guy.To be fair, back in MC's time the so called "relief" potions didn't exist, only the healing ones, since as we saw in this chapter the relief potion is nothing more than a badly done healing potion without any of its curative elements, with only the pain relief being left; the alchemy guild lost so much knowledge that even something like that became the norm. The MC simply didn't think they had fallen so far, so he did his task to the best of his abilities, hence the outcome.
The other ones would be simple mistakes of assumption due to the "ancient blood" thing going on.
Totally agree, I am so tired of this trope. MC is like a genius in every regard yet doesn't realize he stands above all in this time and probably already surpassed his master who's probably already dead. The trope of him having misunderstood his teacher and thinking he is still "half-baked" is so annoying. It's gonna have to be another drop... I don't understand how people give such high rating to mangas like this, such a bait
