A lower spf applied more often is better than a high spf put on infrequently. Spf also doesnt necessarily indicate broadband protection and many high spf are made using chemical blockers rather than physical so they can be dangerous for some people. Also spf 30 already blocks 97% of uvb, so higher spf isnt a significant increase in protection. Sunscreens are more complicated than we think -3-

@eatgoddamnshit There is a reason why there is a method of classification for this kind of thing, in the long run, more so to a job like theirs were they need to take care of their bodies having attention for these details is important.

Selecting a good sunscreen is more complicated than it first appears. Thankfully I don't have any issues with things like sensitive skin, so all I have to worry about is making sure the rating is good enough to be effective and making sure the one I selected is waterproof as I sometimes have to be outside for hrs at a time and rain or sweat removing it would just force me to reapply it anyway.

A higher SPF can also cause issues with zits, especially if you don't wash it off thoroughly. Which I imagine for a maiko is REALLY trouble....

Nice to see glasses stepping up as a sister by being firm. Honestly I cant help but feel a LOT of things about being a maiko are 'a bother', you know? Might as well get the practice in.

Even with sunscreen I turn into a lobster, so I just avoid the sun as a general rule.

Thank you so much for the update! I'm always happy when I see a new chapter of this manga. Btw I also hate body sun screen. I only put it on my face but never put it on my body

Typo on page 6, panel 3.

Although I like the idea of barely tea, like hot water just getting a kiss from a tea leaf.

Just SPF isn't enough, you also need PA protection. SPF Protects you from UVB rays, which cause sunburn, redness and skin cancer. PA Protects you from UVA rays, which reach deeper into your skin layers and cause long term skin damage, such as aging, wrinkles and DNA damage. PA is based on how long the product prevents you from getting tanned. On average, the human skin will start to tan within 1-2 hours, so you'll need to get a product based on your needs. For the super careful (or paranoid), even if you're indoors all the time or wear long sleeves you'll need to apply sunscreen because UV rays can penetrate through most materials.

For anyone curious, I struggled with finding a good sunscreen until I finally started using things called sun milk or essence, which is a more watery version but it absorbs into the skin fairly easily and without any of that annoying oily residue. I recommend MISSHA's sun milk or Etude House's Sunprise Mild Airy Finish. Oh, and for most sunscreens, you need to wait 15-30 minutes before it's fully absorbed into your skin so that it actually works. You can't just apply it and head off like what the maiko are doing! Of course, you'll need a good cleanser too in order to wash them off at the end of the day. Remember to reapply sunscreen through the day!

I appreciate it. When the day comes that I finally step outside into the sunlight, I will think of you.
