Also, back at the port, it would have been a nice twist if the obviously suspicious(ly drawn) character turned out to NOT be a bad guy. Not that that hasn't been done before either, but at least it's a little less common than the obviously shady character turning out to actually be shady. Maybe I've just read too much stuff and have become desensitized to these things.

My money is on the little granny being the Gate Master. The figure behind the curtain is just a mannequin.
