Wtf, I think this is the first time I saw an Item Box where living people can be stored.
Doesn't that make the skill good for kidnapping?

Yeah, it's rare, but it exists. Mostly on "good guy" characters who wouldn't misuse it, though. Authors add the "no living things" rule to not have to deal with an extremely broken ability that tests the morality of their characters.

Last time I remember a human being stuffed into an item box was Potion-danomi de Ikinobimasu!. I feel like there's one more, but it escapes me at the moment.

while technically it fits the theme of anything goes, i'm also not a fan of item boxes being able to hold human beings. then again, i cannot simply deny it by simply stating alive-humans are unable to move into it, but on the other hand, it was never explored well enough in many series to even care about the details. if it can keep fresh food warm, frozen in time, and if it can hold hunted stuff, albeit likely dead, the rules should likely still work for humans. if only that dark guild had send a few bandits instead, i would not need to struggle with this! xd

I think "frozen in time" would mean that the bandits would be in suspended animation until they're taken out of the item box. I hope they're all knocked out before being put inside of the item box because that'd be very disorienting otherwise.

Who cares about the minor discomfort of some "bandits" that are actually Dark Guild goons/assassins?

It doesn't generally get shown in mangas like this, but their fate is pretty much sealed already.. If anything it's more cruel to not kill them on the spot, compared what a little bit of "Interrogation" will do to them.

Doing a bait strategy for this assassin sounds like a huge pain while not knowing when they will show up. With the previous plan to kill him having just failed, which was fairly solid with plenty of strength, it could be months before the top assassin shows up.

I was actually thinking not in terms of bandits, but in the abstract: someone being put inside the bag of holding/item box.

For bandits, well, the item box can be used for exquisite torture. Like leaving someone half-in-half-out? What might happen?
