Sensei is a total psychopath. Enjoys torture and murder. Has zero awareness of other people as people. Zero empathy. However, she only seems to target malicious scum. Except for the brother?

For the brother, we don't know what she did. Even if she intentionally pushed him down the stairs, broken neck would only be a small chance. Much more likely would be sprains, other broken bones etc. As for brother's characters, he did seems fairly innocent, just teasing/annoying a girl that he liked. But... Doing that a few times is one thing. Doing it every damned day? That suggests that he himself was uncaring of her actual feelings. And he was playing around with a switch [butterfly] knife for fun. Not a pyschopath, but not that innocent either. En route to being a thug.

(There is the question of what the brother saw young sensei do... Probably something like torture or live dissection of an animal.)

As for Akizuki... Also not a pyschopath. But also a participant in rape, torture, social blackmail. Loved his brother, but he's still malicious scum.

Sensei Evaluation... The sort of person where you're glad they're on your side. And where you buy a gun and start practicing self defense in fear of the day that she's not on your side.

Higher ups in the educational system... Looks like we've got ourselves a "problem solver"! Hmm... What other schools should we send her to once she's "problem solved" this school?

It would be neat if it turns out Kasai was always this mega psycho since childhood and if she had somehow manipulated the present-day bullies into doing their thing even before she came to teach at the school, allowing her to "rationalize" killing them later.

Then that's sloppy editing on their part. If that's what they were referring to, then they should have cut down your quote to the relevant part. As it stands they're grouping the first instance of aggression (throwing bugs) with the second instance (rape, torture, social blackmail) and (seemingly) suggesting that both are "affection through aggression". ... Even with the understanding that they were presumably talking about the first instance, it's pretty incongruous to excuse the first aggression while ignoring the second aggression.

Don't blame your lack of understanding on the person you responded to. The "especially young ones" made it really clear what situation interesting_username had been talking about here. Hadn't you responded (although still lacking an apology) I'd have called you some choice words for your quotemine of him, dishonest being by far the most polite one.

And there'd be at least two reasons to apologize the "incongruous" treatment:
1. The first instance involved elementary school children, who lacked the mental capacities of teenagers that should have more insight into the right and wrong of their actions.
2. In the small kids' case it didn't involve "torture, rape and social blackmail". It was minor pranks, he was just a nuisance. We are explicitly told that the boy did it to gain the girl's attention and that he liked her, and most of us can accept that, because many will know from personal experience that stuff like this happens every day.

Sloppy editing is sloppy editing. "Young ones" applies to both groups. And OP's response immediately followed the second point, not the first point. And given that the OP can be read as excusing the second instance, the OP absolutely should have corrected that (most simply by cutting the initial quote down).

Well, that's a stretch. You, like the OP, are ignoring the elephant in the room to focus on the mice.

Anyway, we've devolved into hotly arguing over arguing... Let's put that aside as it ends up being a waste of time. Here's my summary thoughts:

• Mangaka suggests that Sensei pushed big brother down the stairs. But we don't know that for sure. Certainly she seemed to have motive and will, but as a planned attack, it seems a bit weak to me. Permanent paralysis is much less likely than just a few broken bones.
• Brother did like her and his throwing grasshoppers, etc. was probably his attempt a flirting.
• OTOH, he kept doing despite her lack of response. And he played around with a butterfly knife, which (per Japanese law and culture) is highly indicative of criminality.
• Sensei is a psycho. Pushing someone down the stairs for throwing bugs at you is an over-reaction. Plus there's whatever else she did that scared little brother.
• Rape, torture and social blackmail are all very bad. Kanazawa was main guilty party, but the others were all active and willing accomplices.
• That deserves punishment, but live dissection and murder is excessive.
• The other girls are still bullies, but they're also followers. That's why they fall in line with Sensei when sensei reprimands them. They don't relent because of their "inner goodness" but rather because they're the type that needs a leader.
