I think there's a misunderstanding here about what happened in the end. Excepting Tohru and some ancient dragons, everyone in Chaos Faction instinctively respect and fear the very presence of The Emperor of Demise, and that includes Kanna. The fact that he showed up uninvited basically sent Kanna the message that she shouldn't go forward with the confession, and this combined with her own mental state led her to chicken out.

Or it's just father-in-law helping in the family shenanigans...

I feel like you're stretching the context pretty hard. My read was that Kanna is so loved that dragons of all 4 factions came together to help her out.

I did actually find the cop-out kind of funny, even if it did stall relationship progress between Kanna and Saikawa. I personally wonder if the reason it didn't happen here is because of Kanna's own spin off manga, perhaps Cool decided it would be better to have it happen in there?

Her not telling Saikawa kinda made everything pointless. Really felt like a giant waste of time. Cool should've committed here. After all these years that would've really made for an interesting change to the story.

You know what I get Kanna, she wanted to tell her the truth, but how do you approach with I'm actually a mythical creature of immense power.

I'm sure Saikwa would be fine with it, but we've seen Tohru lament the fact she eith outlive Kobayashi before.

Especially after everything that happened with Azad.

I feel like the series as secretly been building to there being something special about Kobayashi and she's no ordinary human. Who knows maybe she might live longer than Tohru thinks.
