I think ami just wants to be loved by someone who will actually get mad at her for doing this kind of shit. Anger and jealousy are signs of love to her. Rei being upset at her for cheating Is proof of her love. Rei being sad when Ami neglects her shows how much she cares for her. That sort of thing.
It's honestly pretty sad, that she can only feel loved by making her lover upset. Maybe she's not getting that in whatever relationship she has with the school nurse. Just my speculation tho.
