Dissapointed!

I honestly think this couldve had a HDWR type feel with them finding that despite the turmoil, they were secretly perfect for each other all along, but it seems it had limited minutes.

Shame, but all I can muster is a dissapointed sigh. Cute, but fell flat.
I was thinking that too!! Ami seems like she’s got a lot of problems with relationships and I would have loved to see it more examined.

This prolly got axed but the story makes a lot of sense for ami to be so awful. She was desperately trying to fill a void in her heart because of her mommy issues. She couldn't fully trust any of the people she was dating as they could just end up like her mom. Promising to love her always and then up and leaving her and only coming back when she needs money. The one person in her life who promised to love her always now only sees her as a meal ticket. Ami is nothing to her mother.

That betrayal and resulting trauma made her an easy target for grooming by the teacher as well. Seeking a replacement for her mother. Ami is a victim of circumstance and while that doesn't excuse her behavior, it does explain it a lot.

She wasn't cheating for the lols. She was cheating because she was empty and seemed to be putting on a front. Happy go lucky on the surface, depressed and empty inside. She was trying to fill that emptyness while not being able to fully trust any of her partners. If her own mother left her like it she's nothing, how can she know the replacements won't throw her away too.

After rei was able to prove to ami that her love was truly unconditional and genuine, unlike her mother's now being based on the condition of money, ami immediately reformed her behavior. She finally found the person she was looking for and wanted to fully surrender herself to rei's love. Feeling confident in it enough to take the plunge and risk having her heart crushed again. She wanted to be better for rei and threw her old pathetic self away to be someone worthy of rei.

Again, not an excuse but it adds nuance to their situation. Someone who steals because they're starving is not the same as someone who steals for fun. Ami was starved for love and loyalty and until she found it she couldn't find the strength to give it to her partners without feeling certain of their love and loyalty.

I'd say before judging her too harshly, consider that she was a victim of grooming and circumstance first and an asshole second. The context is really important. And again, as soon as she was able to fully trust rei, she reformed immediately. That's not easy when you're so emotionally scarred.

The ending is good if you really take all of that into consideration along with it being axed. The axe made it impossible to give ami a redemption arc so we have to fill in the blanks.

The art is really good, and the author seems to want a positive ending so that's that... atleast they seem happy now, I'm glad blond hair reflected though it feels a little unsatisfying
