I like slow burns... but this slow will have nothing cooked by the end. (meaning, if you have some spoilers please)
...sorry, got bored and started to write, so...
TLDR: Pretty boy is dumb so i hope sword does not accept him and i already have a version on how this should end and it wont be like that so i´m pre-angry for when i know the true end.
I would really like that sword to either accepts MC as the master or accepts no one, i know pretty boy has no fault in all that happened to MC, but so far, they haven´t given any proof that the dude is understanding anything or connecting any dots or at the very least, that he is avoiding the truth. I'm no master detective but even I can know by now because:
- The kingdom's version of the story is clearly a lie
- She is particularly angry at him (when miasma takes over), whom she has already said that looks just like his magic hating father, that is married to this mentally blinded woman that is related (in name only, but still) to the MC
- Even the sword itself tells him like "dude!, you kind of have all the clues by now"
If i where the sword i wouldn´t acknowledge him just in grounds of his incredibly dense brain
By now is not even karmic retribution, like, what is going to happen?. The sister will loose her mind when she knows the truth?, the other dude will say "sure i asked her, but she said yes, is not like i pushed her in to the void or whatever", the kingdom will say "for the greater good and stuff", the parents may show remorse i guess?.
You know what could be like a good climax?, the sword is the antagonist!, let me explain.
Saltis never had pity on MC, she was destined to be the new master all along, but life (and unrequited love) grinded her resolve and in the end she sacrificed herself for the wrong reasons, they went with her because she was always their master, but also they knew that the second she comes back, the kingdom will label her as a bad omen, an enemy, and probably may even execute her, Saltis knows that she may even agree the be executed in her current mental state. The sword is just there alone with their master until one of two things happen, either she dies or she acquires enough self-worth to dismiss everyone and live by her own will. The sword is an antagonist, but not a bad one... but if we add a bit of the "sins of the father" in to the mix, Saltis may harbor hatred towards the family of the one that pushed their master in to the void, including the pretty boy that is once again undermining MC´s resolve (according to the sword´s idea of what that should be), so when pretty boy tries to take her back, the sword lashes out and tries to kill him, ironically giving MC the resolve needed to become the rightful master of Saltis. They go back, tears and apologies, kiss (she got a mix of her sister and the one she loved in one younger pakage... sound bad, but this is manga, the amount of "this random girl i adopted is now my wife" type of stories, make me think this is not that bad in comparison), the end.
