The chapter was light heart, but the topic isnt. They are still hiding, It somehow feels weird. It would have been more wholesome If Hiura just said "Hi, I'm here".

In an ideal society sure, but it’s already been established that they only really care about each other and maybe their respective families’ opinions (unless i’m hallucinating). Also, just because there’s a lot of yuri and yaoi out of japan doesn’t mean that it is necessarily a haven for lgbtq people, especially since Hiura has the double whammy of being gay and gender nonconforming. You are correct about the idea that it would be more wholesome though.

It’s lighthearted but also pretty realistic. I can relate to the awkwardness of running into an old friend who doesn't recognize you because of a gender appearance change. I can see both Midou and Hiura understanding that it’s easier to just get through that situation quickly rather than to explain the whole situation which might take a lot of energy and also possibly not turn out too well. They’re really out to celebrate and spend time together and if they can avoid any awkward situations, they will. They’re just old friends, they can explain everything later in a more appropriate environment if it comes up again.
Thank you for being a decent person and being willing to admit when you’ve been wrong and learned from a past experience. There truly aren’t enough people like you in the world right now.
