I am not reading that.Sorry, maybe my point didn't get across. I completely agree that the character is a cis guy, now, it's gotten very clear from the character himself and the author as you said. My point is it is harmful to be so adamant to change on these types of manga where the main character is gender non conforming, aka, a cis guy who crossdresses. Maybe I did put my own ideals onto my argument, but I did clarify that it was my own interpretation.
What I tried to convey is that people change as time passes, you are not the same person you were a year ago, you live, you learn, you experience, etc, so you're identity can as well change the same way. Of course, in this case it was so utterly confirmed by the author and manga that is okay to say that they are a cis guy, but to some degree, it feels like you deny the character of any depth past their current self, and that can be harmful if you were to transfer these kinds of thoughts to real people.
I went from a cis guy to a femboy, staying like that through my high school years, just recently did i finally get to accept myself as a transgirl. If you were to say that "but you were so sure you were a femboy!!!" the same way you said that Hiura was a boy, I'd have taken a great toll on my mental health. I was simply afraid that if you would have kept that kind of mindset to not only manga characters, but real people, you could actually hurt them.
Also talking about Bridget, i think that's one of the best examples you could have put out. I was so excited when she came out as a trans girl, but I will wholeheartedly accept it if any new story developments, or anything like that makes her choose to change her identity, as long as she is happy (as a character ofc). I love her and she's one of my great inspirations, but I don't want her to be devoid of her character.
So yeah, I agree that Hiura is a gender non conforming cis guy, and bridget (my beloved) is a trangirl, I just don't want them to be just that, they can be so much more and have more depth as a character, and feel and change like a real human being.
Hope I got my point across and sorry if I seemed mean.
Edit: spelling. And wanted to add that the point about sounding like a femboy Bridget defender hurt me so much I actually agreed lol. I just didn't make it very clear what I wanted to say but I still stand by my point.
Death of the author etc? The work is not completed. It makes sense to believe that the creator of this manages to keep to their word.
Because the author has said the point of this manga is to show a standard boy and a femboy falling in love and staying together.
There was legal action taken for a translation taking it in a trans direction! Like, any unsold volumes with that problem were destroyed action.
You are being disrespectful and making trans people and allies look bad.
The percentage of people reading content with femboys that are transphobic is high (I… have hypotheses).
do you really want this weird projecting and wilful disregard for the intent and promised, and disrespect of the artist inherent to that out there?
screenshotted and posted on Twitter and Facebook?
I’m Jewish and if I came across a couple of my people pulling something that reinforced stereotypes I would speak up against that! Lashon hara!
Have I encountered some of that? Yes, and it’s infuriating. I’m not gonna say what where or when, because… lashon hara.
Just shut up and go some discord, tumblr (where this is probably rampant) and AO3 with your love of wild speculation.
