Yeah, don't know later in the plot but the author put some fantasy stuff with the chief engineers having a muscle-dwarf look.

The bugdet comes from the army/nation, so is not a real problem, as the ship is using "scraps" the cost is lower than normal refitting and the people that want to see MC fail will not suspect anything, instead they would think he is trying to patch holes with garbage and would fail the inspection for the ship state later, that is their plan to demote him.

I think either the translator or the author doesn't know what an admiral is. Recently Merika was referred to as a rear admiral even though our guy outranked her and now she's a second lieutenant, which means she was an ensign (third lieutenant) before promotion. Now, Mark is a Vice Admiral, when logically he's an ensign (third lieutenant).

For anyone reading this that doesn't know, an admiral is a general, except for the navy.
