Wait, they got rid of the fan translations without having an official English translation available to replace those chapters? Seriously? Alright, I guess they don't actually like money. The number of trillions lost in the last 10-15 years by so many companies wanting to screw or ignore the potential customer is staggering.
Paramount/CBS for all their takedowns of Star Trek fan projects comes to mind. They lost so much good will and money that they'd have been better off funding those fan projects.
With that said—and I'm not accusing the translators of this series (I don't even know who they are as I type this)—I've seen the scanlation sector transition from mostly volunteer to way too many pay walls, and I think that plays a part of why DMCAs are happening more often. I think more series are catching strays than they used to because of this.
