Oh... Wow. Those past lives make even the seeming abandonment by the later heroes seem like nothing. I'll be honest, the earlier part of this manga prior to the hero's return was kind of dull, but it's all paying off.

I think the 2nd and 3rd heroes joined the dark side demon lord on their own after what happened to the MC.

Yeah I'm losing interest pretty hard. The larger plot is...meh? It feels clumsy, the way the misery is ratcheted up. I miss the humorous starting conceit and topic of sorting out yourself after a relationship she knew was doomed from the word go but still spent what, a decade in? This is definitely not what I signed up for.

How TF was she not angry at the goddess/world by the end of that last life? I bet it was the drugs. ODing too hard to be angry.
The goddess had better have had a "warm" welcome for all of those idiots from the first three lifetimes when it came time for them to be reincarnated or judged upon by the way they lived their lives.

I hope that the current hero is an reincarnation of all the past ones.

Because if not that’s way too sad for the past heroes as well. Dx

My guess is that the "Goddess" is an existence similar to the Demon King. Likely created around the same time, no doubt from the original Demon King's lover vessel.

That would explain why the Hero and heroine constantly fail. The one who is actively preventing the destruction of the remnant of the original Demon King is his very first love.

She likely polluted the original king's mind. Played things around the second time and I wouldn't be surprised in the least if she *was* the woman in the Heroine 3rd reincarnation, or at the very least influenced to what level she went.

How's that sound?

And this time she is possibly putting all the pieces(/people) together to reunite with her lover via some unholy "holy" ritual that is supposed to deal with the Demon King true vessel this time around.

Meanwhile the Demon King, wise on her antics, is trying to prevent just that. He is not the original demon lord. He is the hero that consumed the Demon King's soul. His feeling to the Heroine are stronger than his faded feelings to the Goddess that likely feel like distant memory of another person's life more than anything else.

This the goddess doesn't want. She wants her original hubby back. So she is playing the pieces in such a fashion that it will likely play out that way (not knowing that the current Hero is wise on her plans)

Couldn’t the goddess curse those who harmed her as a show of force? That would have probably stopped the cycle of abuse; or at least make it that others would hesitate to try something.

So in the end perhaps she just needs to go with Marcus so she can be truly happy. After all, Jun asks herself if she happy and Marcus too, if the heroes resonate with the demon lord then they can feel that he will never bring harm to her that's because he has been waiting a long time to reunite with her also death to that goddess.

@grandygon: "I wont be surprised if all the past heroes join/gave their souls to the demon king willingly at this point"
Now, I can see that.

@Afiaki:
"Oh, it was actually my fault for not being happy because I didn't know the hero who, never came back, or sent messages, or indicated in any way at all that what supposedly happening and what I couldn't possibly know otherwise, actually wasn't, and they actually still loved me."
"Let's just keep listening to the church and the Goddess, since they obviously know everything; what's the best for me and for humanity."
"Let's not question anything that happened to me, because all of it was for my own good-- they said so, so it must be true. I can't question it because they know much more than me."

This is f*cking gold, as is your avatar.
