I hear you on the tiny handwritten text. If you're not already, might I suggest using nunif/waifu2x (https://www.waifu2x.net/?lang=en for web page, https://github.com/nagadomi/nunif for local) to upscale and clean up the raws? Not to post, just so you can much easier read text. Set the model to Artwork/Scans, noise reduction to Low or Medium (any higher can start blurring tiny text again, start with Low), Upscaling to 2x. You can use 4x for some things but I find that on average it makes it less readable than 2x, though sometimes it help!

Anyhow, you can play around, but I do all my TLs from 2x/Low, sometimes going to 4x/Low or 4x/High for certain stubborn things. This is where having it local helps because then you can do all the pages in one pass. waifu2x can mess with tones, especially on higher settings, so don't just think 'Oh I should just CLRDTS and upload the 4x images - it will be noticable. But running no upscale and low/med noise reduction is a great way to get rid of jpeg noise if your raws are jpeg.
