Thinking on it further, I can see how much pressure the crappy dad was under. Office job probably wanted him to work 16 hours a day, plus grief over his divorce, plus having to raise a kid somehow while being a maladjusted stoic. It's no wonder he cracked.

Still sucks at being a dad, but there's reasons.

I was prepping to cry all chapter but this was some good movement with the character dynamics. Happy to see the dad knowing he fucked up majorly. Too bad he's still too much of a coward to own up to it beforehand. Always room to do better though.

not another tearjerking chapter. at least his father knows he was wrong as hell for neglecting chika, the koto really was chika's saving grace after his grandpa passed away

Dude was absolutely ready to catch some hands for being a fuckup of a dad. I can respect that.

I can't imagine I would do better given the situation.
likewise. i can relate deeply to him but alas he’s fictional and i live in reality

The most messed up thing about this situation is that, even though he feels guilty for saying it, it might still hold true. Even if he doesn’t hate his son, doesn’t mean he can find it in himself to love him. Some people just aren’t meant to be parents, but wind up in the position regardless. (Though the story could go in any direction. Maybe they can reconcile and build a new relationship, or maybe they just go their separate ways, who knows)

That title really threw me off. I thought Hiro and/or Satowa were finally gonna confess to Takezo and/or Chika. -_-

Not trying to justify his actions, but he and Chika were dealt the WORST hand. It would be one thing if the mother died, but she LEFT. I can hate the man for breaking his child, but at the same time, if you hated him you got to abhor the mom for being the one that set the first crack for both.

this chapter was strong, she's the best aunt chika could have, she's a great support for him and it's good that his father realizes what an asshole he is. thanks for the chapter.
