I feel sorry for Mitsu, have to sub your mom to do chore is pretty hard. Especially if there is a (below 5 y.o.) kid.

Sensei is a pragmatist. He knows Mitsu isn't the strongest player and the fact that his practices will be reduced significantly over a long period of time will mean he will struggle. When playing koto in an ensemble, one part being off ruins the whole. By suggesting he can make it easier would help the ensemble, it does dig at Mitsu's pride. It is hard to believe that there are high schoolers (they are in high school, right?) that are cognizant of other people's feeling at such a level as worrying about what shocked reaction they showed on their faces when presented with bad news - although Japanese culture may breed this kind of behavior since it is a societal norm to be reserved in your emotions and not impose on others.

@TheOrigArcade said it best. Taking what he said for granted:

The priorities are important. Do you want Mitsu to have the regret that his family emergency brought his club down from winning, or do you want the friend group to not be broken up? Is the mission more important, or the friends who made the mission to push themselves?

There is no perfect answer. Either way, something gets sacrificed.

Did I mention I love this manga more? Life's hard. Growing up means owning it and adapting to it. You have to be clearheaded like Chika and Sensei, but not too imposing to alienate others. Friendships are only so strong. These trials can forge them tighter.

it's been 3 months... But finally, it has arrived!!! A volume should take less time to translate than monthly chapters right?
