Although little of his work has been translated into English, I knew
Ureshon! couldn't be the
only drop of base brilliance in
Kazumi-sensei's tank. Just so!
Kono Yo o Hana ni Suru Tame ni, which I believe would be more accurately translated as "Robot Naked Porn Flower" (RNPF), clearly flows from the same taut bladder of inspiration. It differs, however, in attempting to pass itself off as the product of a healthy human mind.
The first two chapters establish a coming of age tale with mecha sci-fi trappings, all of it utterly generic, though not without charm. Nevertheless, bulges of surreal horniness may, by keen eyes, be seen to throb the margins of even the most innocuous panels, threatening at every moment to rupture forth. Not that all are so innocuous. Chapter One, for instance, dips its toes in Ureshon runoff, while Chapter Two repeatedly applies the chef's kiss to a baby's bottom.
Luckily, the pretense of socially responsible restraint endures but briefly. Chapter Three tosses it aside it like the panties of a drunk Brazilian dancer at ohanami, leaving only the thinnest sticker of legally-mandated decorum to veil the raw genitals of depravity. The episode, however, seems to act as a libidinal relief valve. In its wake, the next two chapters retreat from full-spread freedom, zipping back up to again don the dull shackles of "character development" and "plot progression".
As only five translated chapters are currently available on MangaDex, I have no idea where things are headed. RNPF's long game may, like edging, consist more of tease than release. Whatever awaits us, Kazumi-sensei clearly understands that the aspiration of human artistry can seek no higher goal than the vigorous insertion of gratuitously explicit service into cheerfully idiotic comedy. I therefore trust that we're in good, if hairy, hands.
RNPF is funny, weird, dumb, dirty and nice to look at. 7/10 for now. 8 or even 9, if the future more clearly sparkles pink.
