Nah, the dad is an asshole. He's literally never home and the mom is always working forcing the MC to take their place for the kids.

If the parents can't even manage their time correctly how could the MC when he is doing more than double their load.

Rarely at home does not equal to not taking care of the kids and keeping an eye out for them. He might be harsh but he still speaks true. Our guy barely has a social life.

So what I get so far is
1. MC's parents busy with work
2. They could hire babysitter but MC says no, since he's already experienced being lonely and want to bonded with his new siblings more
3. Parents agree
4. MC's grade drops
5. Seeing MC's grades, parents bringing up point 2 again, which MC also refuse.

I understand why people upset with MC's parents. There is no indication they are on financial distress, so the implication is that they love the job too much instead. At least one of them could sacrifce themselves and find another job with more flexible time to take care of the kids instead of the MC.

I'm gonna be honest i don't understand why you guys are so upset with the parents here, the MC literally asked for the situation he's in and when the parents notice a big drop in grades they worry about the situation he's in, usually in other mangas the MC is "forced" by the parents to take care of the siblings.

I mean yes the parents are shit but on the manga scale of parents they're not that bad since usually they're neglectful as fuck.

It's a number of reasons and their negligence is a big one.

They can be concerned for his grades, sure, but they go about it the wrong way and for the wrong reasons. They're acting as though he's bothered by taking care of his siblings, they're acting like they're giving "a choice", they believe they're (somehow) spoiling him.

Their answer to that? Taking away what he, and the other two siblings, love and enjoy.
