Damm this is the first chapter i hated MC, I can imagine he needs to rush home to get his pregnant wife to the hospital but he stops to help an old lady carry her groceries on his way home… i hate this toxic helpfulness, it’s fine if you sacrifice something to help others, but you sacrifice others and it’s not ok, what if the wingman was actually sick, would he let the play get canceled so he waits with the old lady for the nephew? He eventually missed the play, big L from mc here, do better

Grow up, you immature child. How arrogant do you have to be to claim that something you don't agree with is wrong? The OP is allowed to want to MC to get back and play the role. I don't like the story either, not on a character level, but on a lazy writing level, using obvious tropes and stupid excuses to make the plot work.

The OP is also allowed to feel whatever they want as I mentioned you weirdo. Don’t misconstrue my initial statement. But the writing factually was good and there was no need to lie (being wrong).

To then proceed and mention one of the most enjoyable aspects of this manga (his sometimes toxic helpfulness/positivity) but as a negative and when it doesn‘t even apply just to make a point.
And finish it off with blowing everything out of proportion when he himself was rightfully (everyone went above and beyond to make him feel like a background scrub) under the impression that his work was mostly done and that they would be able to hold on without him.
He also missed most of the play but saw her when it counted most to both of them.
Him missing most of it still is the best outcome with what we saw in regards to his mental state. He even was a bit too early tbh.
Reading comprehension.

The "wingman“ was arguably infinitely worse than MC in every way and made no sense writing wise if you want to criticize that aspect.
