I think the cause of her flightless isn't her weight but something in the painting supplies that glasses man has given her. I know it's a stretch but his line on the 1st page "they've been getting weaker and some haven't been returning lately...I'm today to estimate how many we'll need to replenish" is foreshadowing. Sure it's a cover to intercept the reverend's message but it can also be applied to the bird lady.

This is my own fault but I have completely lost the plot of the stuff going on with the main human city and church guys, so I've been skimming through the parts with them, which leads to more confusion. But the medical stuff was way more engaging and I kind of wish this was just about trying to bring modern medicine to a fantasy setting. Im sure when they finally connect it'll be interesting, but as it is now i'm getting nothing from it

it's a part of the process though. the seven stars are trying to fight corruption and medical ignorance in their own way, which is what has led them to amami. i think there are big signs and build up for a future collaboration between them which will cause waves

What I find weird, is how her mixing paints is immediately written off as a possible cause of her issue. Olden time painters mixed weirds ass shit to make their paint back in the day, so the odds of her using something with noxious fumes leading to issues is absolutely possible if not outright likely.

This is what we call deduction. If the factor of sleep, food, and exercise does not fix the issue, further investigation is needed.
