So, you know how our MC's magic is only white magic? Healing Magic?
This is a direct result of his mother.

Erinyes is a fallen archangel.
MC's mom was her older coworker, another female archangel.
The tower administrator? You guessed it, an angel.
She legitimately knows the MC's dead mother.
That his father managed to pull and has had to fake being dead to him, but is just working.
So the major inciting incident on why Eugene has issues is because he is essentially 50% ANGEL, and directly inherited her magic.
His pure white magic also is what allows the contract/pact magic to work so well.

Erinyes is also mostly lazy. She'll manipulate you into doing things for her, but her connections to the cult is basically non-existent. She's just a hazard to be around, because her magic is corrupting. Erinyes really does just like Eugene and gets jealous of attention he gives to the other girls. And also how boring it would be to be trapped in essentially a prison cell built for royalty and can never leave. Only a small group of people can interact with her, and only two people can really touch her. She can watch the dungeon, but through the contract with Eugene can feel a bit more of the world around her.
