@Rugid The tracking ability of the one giving chase. Kumo is, on purpose, quite small, so the world offers plenty of places to hide in. It's meaningless to hide if the enemy seems to have some kind of GPS lock on you, though.

Queen can track Kumoko's general disposition and Demon Lord also has some kind of tracking ability / really good intuition.
Add that to speed, and there's no escape, especially if you have only seconds to prepare out of the blue, no matter how small you are.

A grenade which will be in a static location is very different from the ORIGIN OF HER SPECIES. She has literally TEN TIMES as much speed as the queen taratect. That whole warning conversation would have taken less than 20 seconds. The warning was pointless and would have changed literally nothing. She even begins to say she wouldn't be able to run from that.

But believe whatever you want.

Even less, since she constantly using skills which accelerate her thoughts and whatnot.

It doesn’t really seem like Kumoko is arguing with herself at all. It looks more like confusion and freezing in shock. First, Kumoko gets warned. Next, she looks around, likely to find out where the threat is so she can avoid accidentally running towards it. Next, she learns that the threat is more powerful than the strongest threat they know. Understandably, she is shocked by this. She is about to say something about how there’s no way she can do “something” before getting interrupted in the middle of her sentence. She never provides any counter-arguments or tries to deny the existence of a more powerful being, she’s more just shocked and confused. There’s also a possible reason for her to wait until she sees the incoming threat, what with her Appraisal skill and ability to track other beings. Kumoko might also have thought she’d have more time to talk, and thought that whatever threat was coming wouldn’t come as fast as it did.

If anything, that just makes it more unbelievable. Because that means
since she was always human, she's basically talking to an animal. No matter how rational and intelligent it might be, why would she expect a monster to understand her words? If Ariel wants to stop what Kumoko is doing, the only options she has are to capture and tame Kumo-chan, or obliterate her. "Asking her to stop" doesn't make any sense.

The manga part is too short though. I hope anime version make it easier and progress toward the end in just one season because I couldn't see the part where it can pause. If it's anime I think they could shorten the growing part though I know novel readers like that part but it would be pretty boring to read status every 3 minutes.

Intelligent monsters from their world are actually able to communicate through words though. Kumo couldn't do so because she literally isn't from their world and have not learned their language yet. In fact, you'll see this more in the future. Even lowly goblins are intelligent enough to communicate. Monsters in their world have a fairly interesting history, namely, they all started as human experiments.

I don't know if the scenes here are just poorly conveyed but my gut reaction is this reeks of "I'm all out of ideas". Hopefully the future will show me that my initial reaction was just flat out wrong because I've quite enjoyed the ride thus far.
