All y'all are overreacting and need to at least read the last 5 chapters. There is progress going on, y'all just don't see it.

Remember, 3 chapters ago he had a conversation with the Snake and was struggling to come to terms with that situation. The following chapter he sees Kusunoki and finally starts to realize his feelings for her. This PAST chapter he was still debating on whether or not his feelings for her are superficial or not. Remember, in his mind he was burned before. It's not unreasonable to not want to be burned again.

And side note, I can at least understand his feelings. I have been rejected by female friends in the past when I also thought they also had feelings for me. I've also missed signs that a female friend was interested in me. It's not exactly easy to try and figure out if a friend really does have feelings for you.

He is also living in fear that she may tell people he used to be fat as if it is like saying he is a paedophile. This kid needs to get a grasp of reality..

Also, I don’t get all these comments saying "MC is such a wimp". Like, he’s never been the player type, he’s never been portrayed that way. Plus, it’s totally justified in the story why he acts the way he does. I mean, if he suddenly started hitting on her, that would make zero sense given everything that just happened. It's literally only been a few days and it's obvious he hasn’t come to terms with his feelings yet, let alone decided what he wants his relationship with Kusunoki to be. So, chill out and give the guy some time. This manga is about overcoming trauma, not about getting laid xD

A normal human would turn up, be polite and just treat her as a friend. Not have a hysterical breakdown and run screaming for his virginity...

Oh wait, wrong thing. Yes, just like before when he tried to distance himself from her, but at least the reason is better this time.

I actually don't think he's doing the wrong thing here; as far as he knows (and as far as we know) Kusunoki only likes him as a friend, so if be was to tell her he likes her, it could make things awkward, ruin the friendship. He can't yet control his feelings and reactions since this is all new to him, so he's trying to avoid letting his feelings be found out, which requires him to keep a bit of a distance.

Of course, Kusunoki doesn't know any of this, so to her it seems like he's repeating his prior behaviour of dumping her on other people. A misunderstanding, but one that I actually find realistic and believable.
