I really hope Lishu gets a good ending.
It'll be quite a long and painful way to get there but eventually Basen is granted the right to make any wish to the emperor, which due to circumstances is highly likely going to be him asking for Li Shu.
And to everyone worrying, no that's not a creepy one sided thing or something so rest assured.

she's the consort of the emperor, she's one of the most powerful women in the country, not a good idea to harass her like this, hopefully the shitty maids get kicked to the curb or thrown in jail.

Gao Shun is probably an actual eunuch. The reason Jinshi is allowed inside the inner palace despite not being a eunuch is officially he's the Emperor's little brother, Gao Shun doesn't have that privilege.

The reason Gao Shun was drinking that concoction in chapter 34 is probably to test for poison.
Read another page or two and after the part where it specifically states that Jinshi has been taking the medicine to suppress his masculinity, you'll see after the comment about keeping it up and Jinshi becoming permanently impotent states back to Gao Shun that isn't it the same for him?

While he states back that he already has kids and grand kids but this implies that
1) if he keeps taking it, he'll also become the same (permanently impotent) which likely means that he's also temporarily impotent and
2) if he stops taking it, he could have kids again (see the question "So you don't want to have any more kids?")
Though he's also not worried about the effects because it doesn't really matter to him if he no longer can have kids because he already has offspring/heirs (and he's 36 while his youngest is 19 the actual age of person known as Jinshi) (This also indicates that he's a 19yr playing a 24yr old eunuch, since the early removal (before puberty) would also cause a younger appearance anyway)

So while it's correct that he's testing it for poison, it appears to indicate that he's also hiding himself to show to be someone who became a eunuch after having kids. Otherwise the commentary would have been slightly different, for example by saying that the effects of impotency wouldn't matter on the person. for example saying "It doesn't matter to you, you're already a eunuch." Otherwhy why ask along the lines of "wouldn't it affect you the same way as me?"

Thanks for the responses. I hadn't really considered that as bad as the current 'maids' are that they are basically the best that this consort can get with her current standing. Pair that with the maids actions reflecting poorly on the consort to anyone who doesn't know the situation, she really is just kind of existing in a pit of vipers at this point.

Not looking for spoilers really, but is there anything preventing Li Shu from purging her maid roster and starting fresh? Clearly only the one admonished by Mao Mao is the only one who actually halfway cares for her.
She /could/, but she doesn't have the confidence to do so on the basis of her own authority, nor the support of any outside parties (particularly her family), or even the confidence to ask Jinshi for help. And even if she /did/ ask Jinshi for help, there are various political complexities in the background which would make it hard for him to push for the necessary changes.

Li Shui is in a difficult position - she's one of the top consorts, which is notionally a position of power and authority, but she also doesn't get any attention from the Emperor, which completely undermines any power and authority she should have. But at the same time, everyone knows /why/ she gets none of his attention, and actually approves of it (because they know the old Emperor was a sick fuck paedophile, and the current Emperor isn't) . . . so she gets sympathy, but complex sympathy, and certainly not the kind of sympathy that engenders support from enough people to make any real difference. And her family only cares about her position as a consort - so much so that after using her to try and tempt a literal paedophile into getting a child pregnant (again), they sent her /back/ to the inner palace again, knowing that the new Emperor would likely feel sick even thinking of having sex with her.

She's had a genuinely horrible life, despite the fact that most of it was lived in the lap of luxury. It's /so/ nice to see her head maid actually supporting her properly, even if neither of them can make the changes that are needed to really improve things.

I mean, it's /possible/ that sending Maomao in to do the kind of thing she did at the Crystal Palace might help, but Li Shui doesn't really have the personal authority to be able to follow through - it'd probably result in some temporary improvement, but then it'd peter out over time. I'm pretty sure Maomao, Jinshi and Gaoshun all want to just set the whole Diamond Palace on fire and toast marshmallows over the coals with Li Shui and her head maid, but it's not like they /can/, and short of something that cataclysmic things aren't likely to improve much.

That said (spoiler time, not sure how far we are from this point, it's a while since I read these parts of the LN):
Her family is headed for a /serious/ fall, from which Li Shui will escape mostly uscathed - and end up in a safe, happy environment with people who care for her. So . . . it's pretty bleak for her now, but things will eventually get better.

Didn't mao mao encountered one story ghost that almost killed them by carbon monoxide poisoning? Or was I mistaken and it was a person?
That was one of a handful of episodes where there's a hint that the supernatural may be real, but it was very much a hint, not acual confirmation of anything.

Though given later events that involved the older court lady running those ghost story sessions and the building they happened in, that hint about supernatural elements may actually have been subtly teasing more earthly things . . .[/spoler]

I really hope Lishu gets a good ending.

She is having a horrible childhood. Separated from her family to be married to a pedophile. He dies (thankfully) gets sent to a convent instead of her family, then suddenly brought back to be married to the next emperor who isn't sexually interested in her (thankfully) but because of that, she gets shit on and bullied by her maids because her husband doesn't want to fuck a 14 year old.

Every chapter she is always isolated, alone and sad and I just want this child to be happy, safe, and be reunited with Ah Dou.
I think that you misunderstand the situation greatly. She wasn't taken away from her family, her family forced her on the Emperor for political reasons.

Her family (at least those making decisions) are not, NOT, good people.

Anyways I actually don't want Maomao or Jinshi to step in, I want her current head maid (former poison tester) to take control of the situation like a head maid should.

However it's clear the real power is still with the former HM so we'll have to see who actually diffuses the situation. Probably Jinshi and he'll probably do it indirectly by telling the former HM she's over stepping her station and using authority she no longer has. 'The head maid can correct the consort, but you are not the head maid right now.' or something along those lines.

I think it's either because

Basen managed to drove off a Northern Tribe encroaching on Li soil or he defeated some high-ranking Shi Clan members?

technically, harassing MaoMao is also not the brightest idea socially as she is a high ranking official daughter from prolific clan that is acknowledged by the Emperor himself.

So, in that lens, its kinda funny to see all these servant lording over MaoMao.
well, MaoMao herself didn't mind and didn't want to acknowledge much of her Ra/La family ties.

There are Pages missing from this Upload.
I checked, and it seems that the page release of chapters was odd for Chapter 67 & 68.
Chapter 67 is missing 6 pages at the end, but those get added before the pages of Chapter 68.

I know i didn't say it clearly in the original post (because it was a first thoughts out of my brain situation not a overthought analyst) but i didn't greatly misunderstand the situation, because I did say I wanted Lishu to be reunited with Ah Dou, not her family. Because as you and I know they suck. The obviously sold her off for they own benefit, they never cared for her, only Ah Dou loved her as a mother should.

I said "seperated" meaning that is was tramatizing for a child to be seperated from their family, not that it was a surprize for the family. They didn't even want her back when she was widowed, they sent her to a convent and then remarried her to the new king like she is nothing but an asset to pass around. As you said her faimly are selfish assholes, and thats why I want her to go back to the only person who loved and cared about her, Ah Dou. Which is more a fantasy because for the setting for her best out is by remarriage to some guy in court like Fuyou.
