Is it really that easy to do a crime in a peaceful country?
Why no one complained/stopped him from spreading gasoline?
I don't get this....
It's biggest attack on our culture.

@OverlordSaiki

From what i gather, there were complaints. But gasoline goes up pretty quickly. And one guy by himself is not the easiest thing to notice. And 1030 AM, can't imagine there were too many people going in or out of the building at that time.

Just speculation though.
(hope this doesn't count as false info)

On a personal note, donating to a company in proxy to another company on a different company's platform smells of scam. Not only will GoFundMe be taking a cut, but who knows about Sentai. This looks to be making money off tragedy. It's too quick and too unofficial.
Ahh, I forgot to mention this. I also agree with this. I also felt the decision was made too quickly. How many hours have passed? It's a sudden movement. But that does not mean having to wait for an official statement. KyoAni certainly will not ask for direct assistance from the community other than giving further news about their project being delayed and its relation to the damage in their part. For example, they have made an update on their official twitter account of Free! project. But because this fundraising came by the community, who have considered family. I don't know ... maybe it won't be officially counted like that. I just want to think positively.

Update : It's already $971,675 of $750,000 goal per I post this.

For people to have died like that, how quickly did that fire spread, geez... What about the fire alarm?
Horrible incident caused by a mentally deranged man that thinks his precious idea, that he's likely never showed anyone, was copied somehow. If you sit on an idea, don't be surprised if someone else come up with the same shit and actually market it. You're not special.

I'm self-aware enough to realize that I'm a selfish bastard for thinking that this is one of the worst tragedies I've ever heard of (because, let's be real, I'm biased simply because these people make things that I love—I don't know any of them personally, but to think I'll never see more of the magic some of their hands produced, because they're dead, hits me hard).

But, damn and shit.

@tetrasky
gas burns big and fast.
Like, in this video this guy has 1 gallon of gas to burn some branches in his yard, the KyoAni arsonist supposedly had a whole lot more. Plus, in an enclosed building, smoke is what's really deadly in a fire.

I don't trust this American company who rushed into making a donation page immediately after the incident was confirmed

@SteamedBunInvasion You don't trust Sentai Filmworks? They specialise in brining Anime to the west, including many KyoAni's work, so it makes sense for them to start a GoFundme for a studio they have been working with for numerate years. So I don't think there is any chance of them running off with the money or anything.

No I don't trust Sentai
You have to always be skeptical about this.
scamming gullible people to get big bucks by using tragedies happens way too often.
It's a different story if Kyoani themselves were the one that made the donation request, but this is not the case.

Just to add something since a lot here seem to be acting like Sentai Filmworks is some nobody trying to capitalize on this...they localized and published a bunch of KyoAni's works for English distribution. They're not exactly an unrelated party- Clannad, K-On, Chunibyou, Beyond the Boundary, Tamako Market, and there might be a few more I am forgetting. In of itself, I am not exactly seeing a problem with them immediately kicking off a support fundraiser in solidarity with a studio they've licensed from multiple times. I understand concerns of GoFundMe taking a cut, but that's a different issue. It's highly unlikely KyoAni will start one themselves; from what I have read, that's just not how they do in Japan, the social climate doesn't really encourage begging for donations directly like that even in face of disaster such as this.
