Look if it were up to me the US would be on universal healthcare already, but unfortunately the political parties don't want to touch it. and as for borrowing from family i should be clear here, we aren't talking hundreds or even a couple thousand dollars. we're talking an average of $18,000 of medical debt. even if they go to family they can't get enough to cover the costs because 18k is a lot of money that most people just don't have lying around all at once.
my bad. i forgot that in the western hemisphere, family values is different than it was in asia.
for context, my mom have 6 siblings. my dad have 5. not to mention extended family like parent's cousins.
from those, they averaging 2 child/family. and they're also already at working age.
sure not all of them successful, but if it's for emergency, usually we can set aside 200-500 depending on the financial condition. average is as 350 x 22 cousins = $7700 which is more than enough for most procedure. and that's with 2nd world country wages.
your country is weird, man. life and death problem is expensive, while harmful vice like fastfood and drugs is cheap and plentiful. i think it's time you oil the ol' guillotine.
