Like, okay, MC refused them, sure, but, honestly, at this point it feels more like this is because the author, unlike the protagonist's stated preferences, prefers men (which, to be clear, is fine and lovely) than because they understood the problems with the slavery system they've just described (...and that part is a bit awkward...)
