From what was said in the afterword (ch5.5), this manga was adapted from a light novel. This is where a good editor would have inserted themselves and remove this stupid arc.

I guess people haven't seen how toxic a feeder can get, I do agree it came out way too fast but I actually think the teachers motivation reflects reality.

Feeders like to see the one eating eating to the point that they hurt themselves.

Showing him as a fool to Akira who likes her eating but shows the difference between enjoying feeding someone and enjoying somsone eating.

Then it also shows that obsession and stalking is not rational and can happen to anyone.
