So basically the military group existed for only 3 reasons:

- To solve the cliffhanger from chapter 11 as a deus ex machina,
- to give the mc the usb stick with important data which might become a macguffin later, and
- to make sure that the new enemies have a few red shirts to kill so we know how dangerous they are.

Seriously, what a waste of potential. I got the feeling the mangaka does not plan ahead and just draws whatever comes to his mind every chapter.
