Japanese writers have such silly ideas about western priesthood. My favorite is that they believe that priests live at churches - similar how little children sometimes think that teachers live at schools.

Parish houses are a thing, or we're. Might have been part of the early cultural exposure.

Also, turnabout is fair play I guess, do monks/priests live in temples? Cause there's a not small number of manga/anime where people who run shrines and temples also live on the property. Might just be applying the same thinking.

Yeah, but they're separate residences, typically not in the immediate vicinity of the actual church. MC's place looks like a normal house that maybe has a tiny chapel inside, but some mangas seem to suggest that priests and/or nuns live inside the temples which irl only contain facilities for worship.

Oh, they evidently do apply the same sensibilities as with Shinto, such as MC, the 'priest-in-training', being a teenager and attending a co-ed high school, much like a miko shrine maiden would.

the title of the manga is chitoraretai, with the first chapter literally named chitorare lmao, they aren't even trying to hide anything here it's all in your face

But they're not dating. They're childhood friends and she only found out about her fetish after she realized her feelings. Cheating implies deception but there isn't any here.

I would not count this as cheating. It's more of a cuck thing which is entirely different from cheating.

As the wiki states NTR isn't reserved to boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husband.

It can be any relationship where 2 individuals are close and a third party comes in to disrupt.

Most of them simply tack on the trappings of western priesthood to what they know of their local Shinto temple structure. (For further study, check out Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence.)

Although, as others have noted, living on-property is standard for Catholic priests and the lead teaching pastor/elder at large reform works. So it's not entirely wrong. Though certainly not on purpose.
