The inset flashback was from 4.2. So you translate by looking at that. But I don't think that a translation was really needed of that panel.

Your typesetting is nice. The MTL very much needs a proofreader, but at least everything could be understood.

"Could be understood" is my target for now. I don't know anyone who's fluent in Japanese to help me proofread, after all...

It takes a special kind of stupid to believe a coworker/employee is incompetent and still push all work onto them. Those are also mutually exclusive. Either the person is actually unable to do the work at all and all you get is bad quality products that ultimately won't sell at all, putting your company at risk. Or the person does a good job and delivers good products but then you have to admit their competency.

This is probably a meta comment about jp black companies where everyone is being yelled at for doing sub par work, yet guilt tripped into staying until they die of exhaustion, I guess.

Yeah, the common underlying theme is nearly always "leaving a black company and getting rewarded for your skills" (Maaaan, what a good power fantasy! My personal favourite was the Demon Lord one where salaryman was ejected from a JP company, isekai'd, and one of the first things the Demon Lord says is "I read your CV, and I was very impressed!" 🥰 ), but, very often, it's either ignorance or, as mentioned, that special kind of stupid.

But another common thread is that they've had this good worker so damn long, who at least partly got their skills precisely because they were put through punishing conditions, that they genuinely don't recognise their worth. Not helped by the fact that usually, the boss hasn't worked a day in his life since they got to middle management.

...Looking back, none of them have. And they're going to have the usual very rough awakening. :meguusmug:

Thing is, I do not think he is aware of how much the work load actually is, or how hard it really is. He has been bullying commoners out of the place with to much work and abuse for to long, Fake was not the first, and only doing a small portion of his actual work.

He and the rest are partying it up while the real job was being done by others, and he was not paying proper attention to the work load or skill level needed. because that was being done by commoners, and as a noble he is "obviously" better then them at the job.

He thinks Fake is good enough, but not as good as himself, and deserves to be overworked.

These stories persist because there is a demand for them in Japan. Those companies are pretty much the reason there is a demand.

I've personally seen a person get fired PRECISELY because they were too competent. The guy basically became the person everybody went to when something needed to get done. Higher management was getting ancy because he was consolidating work from other departments and making them redundant. So out he went. The vacuum he left when he wasn't there took a good 6 months to remedy because of all the stuff only he knew how to do.

Not fond of the main story but I like seeing these nobles get their just desserts
A bunch of these stories, I end up tracking down the WN just to reread the side chapters to see how the abusers lives crumble.
EDIT :
From what I remember
He is
  • stripped of his position
  • forced to personally invite back and apologize to everyone who he bullied into quitting the court blacksmiths
  • kicked out of his family, who seemed to suffer some backlash and loss of standing for his actions as well
  • Finally gets conscripted as the chore man for a unit of criminal slave soldiers...

It takes a special kind of mental gymnastics to treat someone like trash, call them useless, have them actually leave the company, and still expect them to carry your business. It's a bit similar, but more extreme, compared to "I Was Expelled From a Black Magicians' Guild and Picked up as a Royal Court Magician".

I mean, it's like a revenge story where all you need to do to get revenge is to look at them, and possibly smirk, while they just completely self destruct.

This is not one of my favorite manga, but dropping it before seeing any of the karma/revenge makes me so unfulfilled.
So thanks for the chapter.
