And yet Phos is still a Frankenstein's monster of different minerals, yet this advice wasn't offered. In fact, this just seems to me like a move to remove one of Phos' best guardians. Never had a choice? So Ghost just told him to punch Phos several times when they first met? No, this guy just knows exactly what to say to make someone vulnerable and easy to manipulate. I'm betting on a grand betrayal by the what's his face the Lunarian leader, to show Adamant yet another horrible thing they'd do to get him to break down: using his children and making them regret it. That is, assuming they're even telling the truth about that, too much of Adamant's honesty speech is cut out to be sure, it's very likely Phos was told just enough lies to garner sympathy.

The gems themselves have tried that before Phos, it doesn't work well on anyone but Phos thus far. Padparadscha for instance. The inclusions in Phos are apparently far more adaptable than the ones in everyone else. At best, trying what they did with Phos on the others might make a bunch of cases of Sleeping Beauty style gems.

I'm not gonna ignore the possibility of this all being a scheme on his part either, but dude we just saw some crazy shit go down in this chapter that doesn't seem well explained by "Cairngorm was talked into thinking this was a thing." There was something physically super sketchy going on there, I'd like to know more before I judge that particular event one way or the other.
