I love that manga! It is a very different type of story than what's being told here, though. Akira Falling in Love is very much a slapstick comedy, and a lot of the tension and conflict comes from the ridiculous situations and over-the-top personalities bouncing off each other. Like, I could see a "Losing heroine" character show up there, but it would be her entire personality, having lost 999 previous romances before Hajime, she'd be ridiculous and hilarious and her arc would be done in two chapters.Akira Failing in Love is all fluff, with no drama, tension, or conflict, and it's amazing. Every chapter leaves me with a full belly. It's all a matter of opinion when it comes to what makes a story enjoyable.
This story is about the interpersonal drama of people trying to navigate the blurred line between love and lust, risking friendship to find romance, and trying to understand who you are and what you really want. They are very different stories with different tones and goals. Could you imagine a scene in this manga where Emu is riding a bike, a raccoon jumps out and causes her to crash, sending a chibi version of her rocketing over the handlebars? How about a scene where Akira forgets she isn't wearing pants and bends over in front of Hajime wearing nothing but a lacy thong? Both would be pretty out of place for their respective stories.
