Limit new users posting chapters for a week :maybe:

I often see chapters posted by user accounts freshly created in mainly two different scenarios, either to post a chapter before another group that has been regularly translating it to complain about the group or to generally cause grief.

There are some that are just people trying their hand at translating but they really shouldn't have to create a new account to avoid the internet's criticism. They should be praised for putting in the time and effort if they genuinely wanted to release a decent attempt. Either that or they could just put a different name than their username and claim they were asked to post it or they found it somewhere rather then creating a new account.

Just having some kind of waiting period on posting chapters could help prevent strife on the website, it could function similarly to the group delay feature or just prevent them from posting for a week.

I think this is totally unnecessary. Everyone is free to translate whatever they want and there's no need for a site to go and block other's work just to favor the "regulars". The only reason I could think this would be in need if trolls shows up with their garbage. But that you can report to the mods and they'll make the necessary move if needed.

I'm not suggesting anything more then stopping the brand new account's chapters from showing up for a week or just preventing them from posting a chapter right away. If all they want is to share their translation with people I can't see them having a problem with waiting a week for feedback. This would only block an account from posting for the first 7 days after that they wouldn't be limited.
I'm just suggesting this as a way to take ownership of their work on their main MangaDex account rather than flooding the community with user accounts nobody uses but once.
Think of it as a group delay that is mandatory for new accounts.
Edit: The mods are likely to delete chapters but unless the account is blatantly breaking multiple rules they will leave them be, blocking off an account name until they decide to go through and purge accounts long inactive.

We delete outright troll releases, but sniping isn't against our rules per se. We're not the manga police. Readers are free to support or criticize either release/group they want (within the forum rules, of course).

We're not ruling out implementing some kind of chapter posting limits depending on what the future holds, but this wouldn't be among our motivations to do so.
