I'm pretty sure it's the latter, since she isn't really a 'princess' of royal blood. Them calling her as such is more like a honorary title because of her peculiar position.

Unfortunately, because of that very peculiar position she doesn't seem to have any official power, but that's not entirely true if you pause to think about it. She is the older sister of a young Emperor and has the full potential to become the power behind the throne. That's also probably the reason why the real Princess is attempting to undermine her, it's basically a power play to place the FL under the Princess.

I can't blame ML for being seriously interested in MC... she seduces him, they have great body compatibility, she mugs one of his men, she throws a sword at the great one and only war hero. I wonder if he was attracted to the subtle and cunning side of the 1st princess in the original novel (and MC glossed over all that bc the love scenes were too hawt for her).

Kai is such a normal, bratty little boy. No wonder he was putty in Edith's hands in the original novel, all she had to do was keep spoiling him and smiling while she threw her underlings under the axe of his whims.

edit: can't believe i forgot that incredibly menacing panel of edith, just that little crescent glint of her smile and that red lace background. this artist can do funny and they can do TERRIFYING. I bet she bribed lancelot for info on the ML and then murdered him in the original novel after playing him as long as she could.
