Long length of time to actually switch to new page

Once everything is loaded, if I leave the tab running for a few minutes and then come back, it'll take a few seconds for the page to switch to a new one when advanced, instead displaying the previous page. Unsure what causes it, doing a cache refresh did not help.

+1 on this. Even with the images showing as preloaded, page turns in single-page mode are taking 5-20 seconds.

Number of preloaded images, Data Saver status do not appear to change anything. Restarted browser (desktop Safari), reloaded page, etc. likewise.
