Looking for a darker oriented manga that will keep me on the edge of my seat and make me feel something... anything.

Just read chainsaw man and fire punch and they were both relatively high profile mangas that are right up my alley and I'm absolutely surprised i haven't seen them before now. So figured id ask around on the forums because you guys usually have some pretty killer suggestions.

As a add-on note i have come to love manga that doesn't treat the reader like a child so im looking to find stuff like ajin become human or fable are great examples of this they kill of characters and plot points skillfully and almost never use cheap deus ex machina tactics after the author has written themselves into a courier.

If you know of any hidden gems or just good suggestions Id love to know about them thank you.

Try arifureta it has incredibly dark moments and the Mc goes from a pussy to someone who is op af and edgy. It’s very lighthearted in some areas and has harem. There is a loli whihc is annoying but ehh. It doesn’t have anything too deep story wise but it tells a simple tale of betrayal. If u think arifureta isn’t dark enough try dungeon seeker they both follow a similar plot but dungeon seeker has more gore and more story beats and a deeper story. Dungeon seeker focuses on a revenge but the revenge also just doesn’t fuck up the mc but also the villain .

Feelings are overrated. Just embrace the abyss. All you need is your friend the Darkness. Just dont go casting Magic Missile at it

Here's a few series that might get the Fujimoto Tatsuki seal of approval. A bit of a range genre-wise, all with a dark streak:

The Jiro Matsumoto experience (Freesia, Alice from Hell, Becchin to Mandala, Ichigeki)
Arigatou
Azumi
Soil

The Undead Lord of the Palace of Darkness

Only a few chapters at the moment, but it looks promising. The story is quite intense.

It's about a boy who dies from a terrible sickness, then gets turned into an undead by an evil necromancer.
But he actually embraces his new undead life, since his previous life was constant suffering.

Really late but this one is about bullying and the effects of it. The art style might be weird but it fits the story.
