The Season 2 Finale of Sgt Frog (Based on the Funimation dub, the Japanese seasons are a little bit different) is one of these

Also, I forget if it's the second-to-last or the last episode of Please Teacher! that can get you going

And obviously there's Evangelion but that's its own mess...

@Tamerlane

Is that the episode where
they get called back for a dentist appointment, but it's framed like a serious heart-wrenching farewell?

Maybe...

Yes...

I should note that the dub is my second favorite dub of anything, right after Ghost Stories. It's also my favorite anime so...

I mean explaining the plot alone to people is funny enough @justforthelulz

I want Funimation to finish a few more seasons, but it's been about a decade since they put it on hiatus. It's one of a few dubs I'd prefer over the original. (I actually have all three of the seasons of DVD because I'm a nerd)

Plus they ended it in an awkward place. It would've been fine if they ended it after the Garuru Platoon arc, but whatever.

Also, I absolutely love the abridged series. That's an experience to watch...

Oof, 78 episodes dubbed out of 358.

I made it up to around JP Season 5 (ep.230?), but the excessive anime-original fillers with donut-steel-OCs made me lose interest and I never finished it.
Amusingly, it turned out to be a pretty big catalyst for igniting my interest in the Gundam meta-series.

These are my favorites:
Series:
The Sunday Without God - (Especially episode 3)
Gakkou Gurashi - (It would be perfect if she died)
What Do You Do at the End of the World? Are You Busy? Will You Save Us?
Little Busters! - (Trust me this one may be the closest to your Clannad)
Violet Evergarden
Plastic Memories
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo - this one is hard
Charlotte

Movie:
Patema Inverted
Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl
Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms
Hello World

More on topic, SaiKano.

Disclaimer: I've never watched it, but there's a reason some fansubs warn the viewers,
"This is the end of happiness in Saikano.
If you would prefer the anime to have a happy ending, consider stopping here and pretending there are no more episodes.
Continuing will only bring misery and pain. You have been warned.
