not a fan of humans having not free will when it comes to who they fall in love with (love is blind and all), it also means koharu's matchmaking skills was never hers to begin with and that a cupid (kanna) was making making her matches successful.

prediction koharu could not fall in love because kanna didnt allow it, because kanna (even though she cant) fell in love with koharu.
little toxic but that is the only way they can explain the "humans cant fall in love without a cupid"
if i had to guess chiyo was the one who shot aki

If human is able to fall in love all by themself then what is the point of Cupid. Also, Cupid can't make anyone to fall in love with anyone as state in this chapter. If both side are not compatible with each other then the Cupid's bullet won't work. Koharu's match making skill allow the Cupid to light the fire for both side much easier

Not at all, it also mentioned that "without compatible, even cupid bullet is useless", so they EQUALLY need each other.

I understand the frustration about "free will", but cupids having such power is the whole definition and concept of cupids since the day it's been created LMAO, the reason we human created cupids was not about "free will" in the first place, it's about "excuses", about a "perfect explanation and confession".
When we human as the hopeless romantic creature fall in love, we dont want a boring logical explanation why we fall in love, so we borrow a mythical concept to romanticize the "not able to explain feeling" answer.

About Koharu situation, i think it's because of the "TARGET BOARD" of the cupid world, cupid aint gonna matchmake ANYONE, their power still can affect random people if coincidentally compatible, but it's pointless to cupids.

-------
ps: if that answer still not satisfy you, the "compatible" is the "free will", you have the free will to make who you are as a person, so do the next person, the cupid power is just helping you find your soulmate in BILLION of people, then pushing you to "fall" in the abyss of love

Cupids are literally incapable of falling in love; and if a Cupid is required to make someone fall in love unless Kanna does something really stupid like shoot Koharu while she's standing in front of her it shouldn't be possible to fall in love with a Cupid.

At least, that's how it should work without shenanigans involved.
I'm betting on there being a technicality on that rule. Could be wrong of course, but that's what I'm expecting.

Man I should not have read the spoiler speculation from chapter 5. Up until now I thought Kanna was behaving normally mentor-wise, so without the spoiler this would be where I start wondering what's up. With the spoiler it's just really obvious what happened.
Normally that would barely matter, but then on top of that the author has outright said she has an outline for the story and it's specifically Koharu's story which means I now know something that's probably final arc stuff and that feels awkward af.
Nothing to do but wait and see how things go ig, maybe I'm wrong.

Oh Kanna... I wonder if she herself buys what she is saying.
I love the way this story is shaping up, and the increasingly obvious allusions to something way deeper going on with Kanna, and the Cupid system as a whole. Something is very, very off.
Not least of which the shady system that governs which people grant "points" when they are successfully coupled with someone.

Wonder if the reason why Kanna originally hung out around Koharu when the latter was still a human was because she was too insecure in her own judgments, putting her trust in Koharu's intuition instead. Chiyo did mention that Kanna used to be rather meek, until the day that she took her new "kouhai" under her wings.
Wonder if that meekness of hers may trace back to the way she died.

It's so easy to forget that all of the protagonists lived through the very traumatic experience of tragically dying very young (and having to watch the people closest to them move on, or worse, not move on).
Maybe Kanna died of some sort of illness that slowly killed her? Would explain why she would be bad at handling other people, both emotionally and in a fight, if she had been rather isolated in a hospital for quite a while before her death.

I guess while I'm at it, may as well make a guess for Chiyo as well- she gives me the vibes of somebody who died protecting/saving someone else, not unlike Koharu, but who may have grown to regret it. (Of course there's a chance I am just projecting Kyouko onto her.)

I know I'm probably just stating the obvious, but I just don't see how this ends with her getting together with Aki, as much as I would like that. The whole volume 1 is about her moving on, and letting Aki move on, so I just don't see them going back on that. I think what's more likely is she gets revived together with Kanna, and "I'll make sure you fall in love with someone" is foreshadowing for "We'll fall in love with each other"

Wait, so people in this universe literally cannot fall in love without a cupid there for them? Damn. I assume this only means romantic love, but still, that's a rough state of affairs.
Yeah it definitely means eros. The deep seated affection and attraction to be intimate with another. Affection can still be between friends and family. As shown by her caring for Aki and the bond being built with Kanna.

It definitely doesn't end with her getting with Aki, volume 1 is about her moving on from any chance they could be together romantically. But Aki is still her best friend so it's nice reuniting with her is her other motivation for revival. Really funny to think about their age gap being 6 years if the plan goes according to schedule.

When cupids get shot with a love bullet, it just makes them upset about not being able to fall in love. I do wonder if this is just a gag or if there's a deeper reason for it.

Little confirmation there. Adult (male in this case) cupids exist, which means there's probably an adult female cupid somewhere and I,for one, would like to see a milf cupid. Thank you.

I assume this takes place between Mission 1: Aki and Mission 2:Schoolgirl x cashier per the TLN about how Koharu addresses Kanna. And since Chiyo is apparently deciding the next outing, is she the one that chose Mission 2?

Also, Chiyo my girl ♥

Adult cupid would be rare because only those that die without experience love are chosen by the Goddess to become Cupid. Therefore, the older they are the rarer for them to not experience any love before they die.
