Geez I’m literally crying my eyes out right now, seeing that it’s pigeons they’re working with. I know it’s because doves are a symbol of love, but whenever I see pigeons I remember how we domesticated and then abandoned them, how they’re seen as disgusting creatures. It breaks my heart, I feel like they’re working with the cupids because they also didn’t get love in their first life. It’s not the same kind of love but it still makes me sad, am I thinking too hard about this?? 😭😭

Kanna...you're too kind. It's a little sus. What's in it for you? Why aren't you eager to get a human life back?
Call me crazy but maybe she gave up that chance by buying a lot of ammo, I can’t guess the reason but it does smell fishy 👀

The real question is why is Kanna going so far to help our poor mc. There was some speculation in the past that Kanna might have been related to the accident that killed Koharu, or at least was present around the time it happened. I think someone said she might have been in chapter one in disguise during the school scenes. I dunno, I haven't gone back to check.
Idk about her triggering the accident since that would mean the cupids have too much influence in the real world. When it's likely that their actions don't cause any physical changes in real world. Koharu was likely Kanna's target tho which she missed or delayed

The issue I take with that is that she mentioned it should only take about a year or two to earn enough karma to reincarnate - there's no way she isn't able to head back whenever she wants. Something deeper going on

Wow, is "sell out of everything immediately including the backstock" really the minimum requirement for a series not being permanently canceled? That seems...extreme.

i think this chapter supports the theory that Kanna was using Koharu as a convenient matchmaker.

here’s the tweet that shows decent evidence that Kanna was probably disguised as a student at Koharu’s school: https://x.com/crema_y_natilla/status/1837027808499093973?s=46&t=6ZIzhDGUK5A_75oZrUceig

having this theory in mind, it would totally make sense why Kanna wouldn’t shoot Koharu despite both her and Aki having obvious compatability. Kanna just didn’t want to have to get rid of her convenient tool.

If Aki and Koharu were to date, Koharu would probably either cease or limit her matchmaking of her peers.

also, when Kanna explains how the cupids’ power works (the flame metaphor), the paneling of that scene + her expression makes me think that that was emphasized on purpose. it’s another tell i swear!!

So it has the quest board with target list. Why they compete with each other on the same target while there's plenty of target to be shipped .... I mean finish the job.

Maybe someone is bully or steal others target will get extra karma money-thing?

idk, but personally, in tht kind of situation, I wouldn't want to be human again tbh. So much time has passed and you got sick gear - what's the underside?

the real question is who's selling ammo? Do they have vendors or smthng

Publishers are fickle and basically give no time for manga to find their footing. Only way to ensure is to go beyond their expectations and even then it might not be enough.

Yurihime has at least 2 well selling new series and no one's licensed them yet for example.

Kanna mentions that cupids also use karma to buy weapons and ammunition, and here she says that she has enough ammo stockpiled for them to last them a year. So she definitely used an insane amount of her own karma for that, all to help Koharu.
I think one of the most likely theories is that Kanna was meant to be Koharu's cupid, but she wasn't able to reach her before she died and now she feels guilty for not being able to make her fall in love. So now she has this sense of responsibility over her, which is why she became her mentor despite being known as a 'lazy cupid'. Kanna says she doesn't have a rush to become human again but I wonder if she just doesn't want to go back to being a human at all.

I'm so so curious about her 😭😭 this manga is too good

Adult cupid would be rare because only those that die without experience love are chosen by the Goddess to become Cupid. Therefore, the older they are the rarer for them to not experience any love before they die.
Adult deaths are more common in general, though (populationpyramid.net says only 15.8% of Japan’s population is under 20, and of course adults are more likely to die), so a smaller proportion of “deaths without love experience” could still be a greater absolute total.

I'm guessing that Kanna took the opportunity to farm for easy karma through Koharu's matchmaking and avoided shooting her so she could continue on the status quo instead of focusing on her love life. Then during Aki's confession, Koharu died in a freak accident. And because Kanna was the only cupid present at the time, she felt responsible for the fact that Koharu never felt love.

This could be why Kanna doesn't mind spending all that karma on equipment for Koharu. Because in Kanna's mind, those belonged to Koharu anyway. She did majority of the burnt work while Kanna just sealed the deal at the end. The bullets Kanna supplied her was hers by right all along.

Comic Flapper is a terrible home for any manga that isn't just about jerking off straight men. But the saddest part is that if both Inee and Schwinn (creator of Hanamonogatari) signed with them despite everything, that probably means Flapper seemed like the best deal at the time, or they were not offered a spot in any other magazine.
