Love Triangle suggestion tag ?

this is the one thing I have to do every time I want to start a new manga. I need to double-check the series to know if they are worth reading. I check MD and then I have to check MangaUpdates.
It's not that big of an issue, but at the same time, it's not too suggestive and I think could be interesting to add to the list of tags
Or love rivals, that's an alternative.

If this suggestion already exists please ignore.

A drama tag exist for that, and love triangle is not a tag, it's more like categories.
A love triangle is just something drama will have. (of course not every manga will have it).

A little bit of drama can be good. Like in Tenki no ko, Kimi no Na wa, Bunny girl Senpai, Koe no Katachi.
Seeing a character's misery makes their happiness all the brighter. (Nothing of masochism ofc) Either it's because of their families rivality or distance or something, a couple's reunion is even more emotional
Or the typical revenge plot or isekai reset, where Mc got betrayed or something. That drama has nothing to do with love triangles.

That is drama... (i am talking about Kaguya there).

Not every drama tag in it must have a triangle love conflict. A drama can be any form; hell, even politic can be a drama shit.

If you check the Suggestions forum, you'll find dozens if not hundreds of threads about tags. The single common feature among most of them is the absence of staff. Admins rarely respond to this type of suggestions, even if they good or reasonable. Usually they just get rejected without stating a reason and threads get locked. I think they added only one tag this year, and even that took a brigade of 800 simps. I'm sorry, but you're just wasting your time.

OP, it might help your case to cite that the "Love Triangle/s" tag on BakaUpdates is tagged on 2549 manga.

I think that with great number of tags comes great responsibility though (as in, it'll be more effort for staff/Contributors to keep everything accurately tagged), so I would lean towards hesitation for most tags, especially ones where it's debatable whether or not they actually apply to some manga.

A "Love Triangle/s" tag, however, seems pretty cut-and-dried when deciding if it's relevant to a story or not, so I don't think it would cause any headaches.

A potential reason against adding this tag is that it could spoil some of the plot just by existing.

yep, I've seen comments about spoiler tags before and thought some people are too sensitive to tags as spoilers. At some point how do you decide if you want to read a story? Just randomly pic a manga and read it as long as the demographic tag describes you? I want enough info to at least have an idea if the story is worth my time.

Not a problem for me but Love Triangle seems a perfect example of this. Many don't like love triangles and make the story a complete waste of their time. Having the tag doesn't seem like much of a spoiler since there are still many ways it could go and I would guess many couldn't tell you the direction at the start. If anything I would think the tag would be less of spoiler then the current Harem tag.

FYI, I will admit that I am a big supporter of more tags.

I wouldn't consider that a fair comparison. Tags can vary in specificity. For instance, a "Betrayal" tag would give away more than a "Drama" tag.

I personally don't think that "Love Triangle/s" would be too specific, but as I said above, it would be beneficial to lay out just how unspecific/nonspoilery the tag is (like schlo did).

I'd like to stick with the more general tags.
Love Triangle is not niche enough to be made its own tag. It fits perfectly under drama. Shit, I'd say most of the romance mangas out here are already love triangles. So just read a normal romance drama.
I'd feel bad for the admin that had to go through the painstaking task of assigning each manga manually and accurately with the correct tag.

Also, a side thought, Villainess tag wasn't needed. You could search Villainess in the search bar and find 80% of them from the title alone.
