Lmfao nice try kid if hes trying to create a place for half demons/humans holding a like 6 year old hostage and stripping her of her only family and throwing her to the wolves (the kingdom) who also hate abuse and despise halflings isnt the move that doesn't foster unity it fosters hate and fear they literally can call her by her name not just hostage reduces the kid to a thing and dehumanizes her using a kid as leverage is already as low as you can go if the demons did the same and held the 3rd princess hostage under the same circumstances doubt youd defend it
aaaah, the ol "nice try kid". trying to say that because i might be young, i know nothing? i say again BRUSH UP ON YOUR READING COMPREHENSION. even more so if you're calling ME a kid. boyyo, it's quite obvious i have A LOT more life experience than you if you see this stuff as this black and white. you need to learn to read BETWEEN the lines, and not take everything at face value. others have said everything else far better than i could.

Thank you to Digidestined701, BlackAeronaut for putting it into words better than i could explanations to this child

and thanks WhimsiCat for being able to see the same thing i saw

If anyone's being sloppy, it's the author- the left one says 'Boralis,' the right says 'Polaris.' It was the translator's choice to keep it true to the author's work.
I'm sorry for making that assumption. Crazy that no one caught it before it was published.

The girl is not really a hostage. She is the sister of a prisoner of war. It is more of a protective custody except she does have the ability to spread malicium without much control due to age so add a bit of quarantine to the mix. It allows them to test protective products to hopefully allow for more freedom for her in the future.

A bit annoying that the backstory is portrayed in such a skewed manner (by the author, in the final place).
If that Sleip (as in Sleipnir, of course) demon general had explained that it all rested on a misunderstanding (the demon magically making the generals unable to move or speak when Gholl was told that no one wanted him to be demon lord, so he just left, and gave his kid brother the throne), then Gholl might well still have decided to decline taking back the throne, but he would at least have had more trust for his former closest people (also supposedly close friends!!!). And MC's rant about how a fresh demon lord could be compared to a baby could have been if not cut, then at least modified - I mean sure, cut new people on the job some slack, but the kid brother demon lord Yuigarde was definitely not even close to be ready for the role, pulled around by the nose byt that demon all the time, and it's not a case of giving him time to learn the ropes.
That said, the demon generals have had quite some time to talk to Gholl about what was going on, and they have done nothing, so by this time they definitely can be seen as either complicit, seriously incompetent, or at least really bad friends.
(Well, it's all down to mangaka-san's writing competence ...)

Well, that problem will solve itself in the end, the foxes will know when to bolt.
