If imitation only imitates observable phenomena then it’s restricted, plus it can’t (or shouldn’t be able) to copy elemental properties…
but thanks to dark eye there’s a deeper perception and better understanding of the “process” plus dark magic already specialises in debuffs so you can just physically copy a spell and enchant it (curse it is more appropriate) with debuffs that fit the spell.
Ex: physically copy fire ball, and add the burn debuff on it, that way it’s basically a fire ball…

that’s a great addition to the power system ngl
