Webnovel writers really love to beat your head with the idea that the MC is so good and moral they don't deserve to be treated poorly then have them casually do some of the most fucked up immoral stuff you can think of. MC does no research into the safety of this ability and moves right into human testing. Instead of just getting the help of the maid that could consent to this, he poisons the food for all the maids in the household without their knowledge or consent. He does it for two days then goes well I don't see any problems immediately so it must be safe. Exceptionally stupid and evil.

I understand its hard to write smart characters, but jp webnovel writers struggle to even give the appearance that their MC can think at all. There are two pretty obvious hypotheses that come to mind with something that improves another person's talent seemingly freely. Either it siphons your talent into the other person or it trades the person's life for talent/power now. You'd have to be a real piece of garbage to just casually experiment on unsuspecting people like this.
have we been reading the same manga? first of all, when did the author make the mc a 'good and moral' person? the only thing the mc has been thinking about from the start, is saving himself, and meeting his waifus. on top of that, it really obvious that, while he is not dumb, he is not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, which means that the mc just didn't think about it that deeply. Besides, this manga is a COMEDY. Any way, the mc is in the body of a child that was conducting rituals to his maid, and that also means that his physical brain is of that child, is it that hard to think that he is influenced by his body?

You basically claim that japanese authors are bad at writing, when you yourself can't even pick up the details, and if we go by your opinion, then the mc would simply go out of character.

I know reading is hard because you sure can't seem to do it. The story literally presented the idea that the blatantly unethical thing the MC just did was good because it made the people in the mansion better at magic. The MC actively wants to be a good person. He's not treating people well because he doesn't want to die, he's treating people in a way that he thinks is good and respectful because he thinks that's the right thing to do. I really wonder what must go wrong to read this story and think oh the MC must only be doing anything because he doesn't want to die. It is almost a fundamental element of these "possessed a villain but I will escape my destiny' type stories that the MC is good.

Yeah I'm sure the MC would be way out of character if we followed my opinion of the MC shouldn't have experimented on innocent people casually and should have maybe thought about it even a little. You know like a person would. Any reasonable person regardless of how stupid you think they are should be able to tell that is not ok. It's not bad writing, it's lazy writing. They want to get from point A to point B as fast as possible so they gloss over the implications of anything that's used to get there. The reader also doesn't care because many web novels are treated as junk food you turn your brain off while reading. This is an adaptation, they can make story changes. They could have introduced his talent enhancing drug in a different way that doesn't reflect poorly on the MC. They could have written it better, they chose not to.

Yeah it's comedy sure. Drugging your whole household always kills at the office.

what?
literally the first chapter says it, here is the exact page.

i am the one not reading it? could it be you only read this chapter while skipping all previous ones?
he will be killed by the demon army, so they will take his eye to fully revive the demon king, you know, the whole plot of the story? and i never said it's only for saving himself, did you even read my comment?

and you missed the whole point of my comment, ITS A COMEDY. and it's very common for a comedy to be a bit dark. the mc is not the type of person you make him sound, and he is not meant to be, so what would have been better for you? to break character and suddenly care about others? you completely misunderstood the whole character, find me a single page that shows that the mc cares about others, and I will agree with you.

edit: also the reason why he did the experiment was to make his family stronger, not because he cares about them, because the manga doesn't straight up say it, doesn't mean it doesn't hint it.
