I always love when authors bring up this self-aware stuff. Always makes me wonder if they ever considered toeing the line during the planning phase, but some editor or whoever decided it wasn't appealing enough to the masses.
this guy is making it more complicated than it actually is because he skips the all too important basics first. dude, sure i know you want to make a sapce ship already but c´mon man at least start with a flying carpet or something before trying to go to space or even deep in the seas with a sub.
He should have just let one of the miners hold onto the engine. Reiko is stronger but they look to weigh a lot more.
Messing with pistons and turbines is going to extra trouble in a magic world. If he was determined though, he could set up some kind of earth magic push/ pull for pistons or move water around for a hydraulic drive.
To those who are talking about making "Flying Carpet", well this World isn't completely magical like other Isekai ones.
The Magical Law in the world of this Series is more like Magi-Science, aka., using practical principles to create stuff but using Magic as energy source (as far as Magi-Tech goes). So, something like the creation of "Flying Carpet" would practically be impossible (as far as i understand).
Also, MC isn't interested in creating a Spacecraft, he is creating something else which is quite commonly known in our current world and technology (also to create a Spacecraft, there are a lot of more factors to consider, like 'Escape Velocity' for example, which i doubt MC can easily do).
What MC is planning to create is Jet Boat, Jet Ship, Jet Plane and V/STOL
By the way, the next arc is going to debut one of the most important character in this story.
@Merilirem
You realize I didn't mention anything except the fact I like the character that will show up, right?
"A random character is gonna show up" OH NO THE TERRIBLE SIN OF SAYING NEW CHARACTERS WILL APPEAR.
I cringed so hard when they were testing a jet engine by holding it. That's just asking for trouble.
Rig up a test stand from a bunch of anchored beams and have everyone at a safe distance.
If physical contact is needed stand behind a blast-proof wall and leave only small hole to access the engine, preferably by one of the mass produced golems.
If gasoline isn't available, vegetable oils (obtained by pressing) or ethanol (obtained through distillation) are easily accessible. Or start with a steam engine, since that works with any heat source.
If magic is more convenient just say that instead.
Steam power would be pretty easy to be honest. He wouldn't need to use magic to produce the force, just to boil the water. I imagine it wouldn't be that difficult to also add in a magic condenser with ice magic too, to recover a lot of the water.
Not as cool as magic jet engines (and handlebar dogs ¬_¬ ) I guess.
..... Shouldn't it be like, Solis and Luna? both in Latin? Or both in French, Soleil and Lune ? What is this author doing mixing up multiple languages like that. Or is this the translator taking liberties with it?
