Ideally, I'd like an impossible enemy to be reserved for later, as a motivation for the characters to improve.
But as it is, it wasn't necessarily an impossible enemy, as proven. The vampire expected no resistance from humanity, but these "lowly humans" obviously have developed a new tool he wasn't expecting them to have.
