There is also the fact that the Giantess Nun double-crossing play: She trew Lord in the pit with the magical items, probably without Vena's knowledge, considering the smug face she make in this chapter. Her IRL position as a host of a show could also imply a story of acting, probably good enough to fool everyone involved in this.

Remember Utena likes magical girls, and she likes them to win at the end, and technically speaking lord is currently a magical girl, she even has some nice magical girl back story: from being evil to going to the good side, that just fuels her magical girl love.
